Absolution sold by the glass

This is a poem about two people who after years apart find each other again. In each other they see the future- only to find that their paths lead in two different directions. Yet, the question remains, will time bring them back together?

Promises, balloons, strings attached
Destiny, expired, eggs unhatched

That we were good enough for each other
Was of no consequence to another

In this season of discontent
We loved without regret

Though tomorrow on loan
In the past we roamed

Love put on pause
Indecision cause

It paralyzed my heart
If pierced we part

Absolution sold by the glass
As memories dance and pass

Sapphires and diamonds, jade and gold
Make amends, easier to hold

Chance time for us?
In God I trust.
